Suet is a saturated fat that is a long-standing ingredient used in traditional British cooking to add moisture to sweet and savoury dishes. Suet has a mild flavour and high melting point, which adds a light, spongy texture to baked goods, giving a flavour like no other.

Beef suet

This is the hard fat found around the kidneys and loins of cattle. It’s a traditional ingredient in British cooking, valued for its high melting point and ability to add moisture and richness to dishes.

Vegetable suet

Vegetable suet is made from vegetable oils and fats, such as sunflower oil, and is a suitable substitute for beef suet in recipes which don’t require the specific flavour or texture of animal fat. 

Gluten-free vegetable suet

This is a vegetarian suet, often made with vegetable fats and coated with rice flour instead of wheat flour, making it suitable for those with gluten intolerance or celiac disease. 

Palm-free suet

This is a vegetarian suet that specifically avoids the use of palm oil, using a blend of other vegetable oils like sunflower oil.
